I came across a wet market today and it was interesting to gawk at the fresh seafood and other produce. Apart from that it was more walking around and asking locals to point out where I was on the map.
I also noticed that some of the clocks were 24 hour clocks. Interesting but weird. Shouldn’t you be able to tell 12 noon from 12 midnight by just looking out your window?
I have realized a few things about Venice. One, it really is beautiful. The entire city is an orgy of art. Two, it’s kinda fucked. There’s already lots of flooding in parts of the city. Three, after a couple of days here there’s not all that much to do apart from drink €1.35 supermarket wine.
I took the train back to Milan in the evening. Milan feels like the ugly cousin in comparison even though it was the capital 1500 years ago. But my quest to find a good pizza here finally ended in success. It was at a restaurant which served Napoli-style pizza, with pancake-like base and crumbly feta and eggplant toppings. Turns out there is good food in Milan, just that I was previously too cheap to go to a decent restaurant.
